TITLE: TEACHER
QUALIFICATION: Possess valid Kentucky Teaching Certification
REPORT TO/EVALUATED BY: Principal
BASIC FUNCTION: To provide an educational experience that will promote optimum development of each student in order that he or she may realize his or her maximum potential as contributing members of society.
1. Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
2. Plan program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students.
3. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the student.
4. Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of principal.
5. Guide the learning process toward the achievement of the curriculum goal and establish clear objectives for all lessons to communicate the objectives to the student.
6. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media in meeting the needs of the student.
7. Strive to implement, by instruction and action, the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
8. Assess student achievement on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
9. Refer students to appropriate district staff for possible intervention services when necessary.
10. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. NOTE: The use of Safe Crisis Management Techniques is permissible only if staff has been certified.
11. Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law.
12. Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
13. Be available to students and parents for conferences and at times outside the instructional day.
14. Maintain and improve professional competence.
15. Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
16. Perform other related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit. The employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being, or work output of other people.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
